Downtown Sacramento Engagement Session
SOPHIA & ESTON
These two are the absolute cutest. They drove up from the bay to have their engagement session near the Capitol in downtown Sacramento. Even though it was winter, the weather was lovely and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Sophia and Eston while we walked around the park and downtown.
Sophia had the cutest idea to use some string lights to bring in the winter vibe for some of the photos. I thought this was so cute and such a fun way to highlight the time of year and add something different to their images. I am all for adding things like this to your session to make them feel even more like you. Bring anything that is special to you or represents who you are as a couple. The photos always end up adorable.
In addition to the area around the Capitol we went to Stanford Mansion and took some shots there. This is a really unique location, and the dress that Sophia chose to wear for it was perfection. Classic and elegant, a perfect compliment to the architecture of the building and grounds. Always consider the area you will be shooting in when selecting your outfits. You want them to compliment with each other rather than compete for the focus.
Last but not least we headed up to the top of a parking structure to get the sunset. This was such a fun session and included so many fun and unique spots around the downtown area of Sacramento. Don’t be afraid to do your session in the winter, or in a less common area. Think about what represents you best and go from there! You really can’t go wrong when you add your own personalities to the mix.
When planning your engagement session I think it is so important to start planning by thinking what personal elements that you want to add. What kind of people are you? Outdoorsy? Foodies? Do you love a game night? All of these things add to making the session your own. When you look back at the photos years from now, what do you want to remember about who you were at that point in your lives?
