Maternity sessions are so special. The anticipation and excitement is so high, especially for first time parents like Tascha and Steve. I had a lovely time with these two, hearing about their plans for the upcoming birth of their son, Maverick. I will never stop being honored that people ask me to document these times for them.
This is such a special post to write, I almost don't know where to start. My nephew, Ethan Henry Erickson, came into the world this past Wednesday, January 21st. This marks the first birth in our family (and my brother in law's family!) in this generation. My brother in law, Zac, called me at about 11:45PM on Tuesday evening, just as I was about to go to bed, to let me know Lauren was in labor and would like me to come over. My sister had requested that I be the only one, besides Zac, with her during the labor process and to say I was honored is an understatement. Watching my little sister bring her son into the world was the single most powerful moment of my life so far and brings tears to my eyes as I type this. This little boy was so wanted, and so loved, even before that second line appeared on the pregnancy test. I could go on and on, but I will keep this (relatively) short. Lauren, I love you to the moon and I am so proud of you. You are the best sister I could have ever asked for and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving me the best nephew in the entire world. Ethan, you are days old at this point but we already can't imagine the world without you. Always know you are loved more than you can imagine and if you ever need anything your Auntie Kate will always be there for you. Love you little Bear.
